Single Terminated and Double Terminated Crystals
A single crystal is a stone that has a point or termination at one or both ends (double terminated). The size of the crystal depends on the rate of the temperature cooling in the ground where it is growing. Differing points of view abound as to how long it takes for them to grow. The colour depends on the minerals present in the growing stages. Technically the mineral is an impurity and this causes the colouring or the quality of healing energy the stone gives off. Just as our experiences (impurities) over our growing lives help mould us into who we are – accept yourselves as the unique beings you are – there is no-one you can compare yourself to because you are unique. The single crystals help with direction while the double terminated will help with that also but with an added attribute of balance. |

Clusters
A cluster is a group of single crystals joined together usually at the base. These are usually recommended for the environment but as a personal stone they give great benefit in opening you up to multiples of energy and or experiences. Clusters foster protection, cooperation, participation, harmony, union, friendship and intimacy. |

Empathy or Empathetic Crystals
Marvellous stones that have done it rough. They have chips out of them, points broken and generally look beaten up. No perfection for this lot. Their special gift is to help us accept our chips - Hey how bout that we are not perfect. By being chipped and beaten it gives them the healing quality called empathy. This assists in feeling how others feel and being able to relate therefore be in a better position to help them. Marvellous gems not to be overlooked. These stones help promote understanding, compassion, kindness along with empathy. They help open the hearts that have been closed while also protecting the vulnerable from too much pain.
A suggestion – obtain something that is broken or damaged in some way and work with it. By work with it I mean sit holding it; look into it; take it to bed and wherever you go. Care for it as you wish to be cared for. Clear Quartz
One of the most abundant stones on Earth along with Agate (which is of the quartz family). Silicon dioxide is what Quartz is composed of. Clear Quartz is as it sounds – clear – the clearer ones are referred to as the masculine aspect (rational, logic and clarity). Sometimes you will find one that is milky clear – this occurs when gas is trapped inside – these are known as the feminine aspect (intuition and gentleness). The ancient Greeks referred to Clear quartz as ice turned to stone. A general healer which gives us clarity and energy. Very good for meditation in that it will assist in giving clear vision.
Clear Quartz crystals are said to impart:
It is said to promote wisdom, clarity of thought, general healing, communication, transformation, awakening, cleansing, pureness of heart and intention, higher consciousness, positive thoughts, harmony and love. They enhance blood, body and mind while assisting in conquering fear and protecting against adverse radiation. For backache these are good used in conjunction with Black Tourmaline and or Magnetite. Clear Quartz crystals work well with other stones by magnifying and amplifying their energy.
Clear Quartz can be an extension of oneself in meditation therefore it is energy clearing and excellent for psychic and intuitive advancement. For communication with higher self and spiritual guides they are great as they amplify prayers, wishes, positive visualisation and thought forms. To dispel negativity from your energy field and in the environment use these beautiful stones as a single or a cluster. Work with all Chakras. A gift of the Clear Quartz is the capacity to assist in giving clarity into any situation. Sit and hold a pointed crystal at the Solar Plexus point upwards, breathe in and out regularly. For a short period of time think about the situation then let the thoughts drift. Do this for a time that is comfortable and when not pressed for time. Most times the answer will come. If not, relax go about your duties and the answer will come in some form when and from where least expected – so keep eyes and ears open.
If you are low on energy sit with one or two clear quartz crystals with points and relax or meditate for ten minutes. Great if you want to go partying. |

Agate
Also in abundance in our Earth and is one of the most widely coloured. Most times it is variegated and banded or with stripes. Agate is of the Chalcedony family which is of the Quartz family. The colour range makes it an excellent stone for healing. A layout or placement of stones on or around the body with the different colours is a very beneficial experience.
Agate is said to improve hearing – listening to that still small voice within, cutting through the chatter of the mind. Very calming yet quite a powerful healer on a physical level. No wonder that this is one of the stones that mankind has been chosen or been guided to colour enhance or dye. You will find Agate in lots of natural colours but also dyed hot pink (is lots and lots of spiritual love and hearing the emotions that are holding us back). Purple (letting go in order to gain and grow spiritually), a beautiful bright blue (how many of us quieten our mind or our voice in order to hear what it is most we need to hear – whether it be the rustle of the leaves as the wind blows through or the chatter of a small child. We can miss out on so much), green (physical peace, healing and listening to your body and the physical of nature around us) and brown (great for grounding and hearing that which is relevant to your physical life’s journey). Each of these colours relates to an area that humans need assistance with. Let’s use these marvellous Agates and evolve.
Attributes that Agate is said to impart:
Agate is grounding yet quite energetic. Fosters love, abundance, wealth, good luck, acceptance, protection, balance, harmony, generosity, security and appreciation of nature. Strengthens the body and mind while calms and soothes the emotions. Assists in the improvement of hearing and imparts the ability to discern truth. Agate helps give a sense of complete acceptance of circumstances, thus helping a person to feel heartened, consoled and strengthened despite hardships in life. Works with the Chakras according to colour of stone. |

Celestite
Comes in colourless to pale blue, white, reddish, greenish, transparent to translucent. (I have only seen and worked with the colourless, white to pale blue so cannot comment on the other colours) This beautiful pale blue crystal helps us plumb the depths to our emotions or psyche. The pale colour reminds us that even when we feel weak sit with Celestite and it will help you pull the strength from within to keep going. The Celestite will show you the way – breath and welcome the energy into your heart and soul. Open up to the newness of a beginning because at times of loneliness and darkness there is a new beginning around the corner. The love that you will feel from the stone is all encompassing assisting you to communicate your needs. Sit with it, hold it, look into it and on a soul level it will feed you.
Celestite comes in a very pale clearish blue through to a darker shade of pale blue therefore communication is one of its keys. Mental peace and calmness are others. Available in clusters they will help you integrate with groups or bring group ideas together thereby giving you understanding. As a single crystal (a bit harder to obtain) they will help sort your emotions out prioritising and presenting in an order that you can deal with. Associated with truth and reliability. Great aid in personal creative expression and in clear speech. Accelerates spiritual growth by helping one adjust to higher states of awareness. Enhances the thyroid functions whilst reducing stress by relaxing us and giving peace of mind. The throat chakra is suggested for this stone but at the crown and or third eye some interesting experiences can happen. |
